Childrens Ministries
Sunday School
Each Sunday at 10:00 am, our children meet for Sunday School where they enjoy a time of being with friends while learning about God’s love for them and God’s desire for them to love others through age appropriate Bible study – all in an atmosphere of fun, creativity, and acceptance for each individual child.Girls in Action
(Wednesday, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm/September – May)
Girls in Action or GA are a WMU ministry organization for girls in grades 1st through 6th who are interested in missions. GA is a wonderful way to open up the world to young girls. GA members are actively involved in learning about missions, praying for and giving to missions, and participating in the work of this church. Girls also learn and apply Bible verses and begin to understand the role of missionaries in telling people about Jesus. By hearing about missionaries in many different places, a GA will discover that God’s mission is worldwide.
GA also has its own magazine, GA World, which contains mission stories, missionary biographies, games and puzzles. Each week this magazine spotlights one missionary kid (MK) and we pray for their specific needs.
Girls can also participate in an optional, individual achievement plan called GA Journey. Each of the six essential grade-level books for girls will encourage creativity and faith through Bible learning, journaling, and bonus activities. Girls who complete these activities can earn GA Journey badges.
GA is an opportunity for girls to begin to develop a mission’s lifestyle as they discover their place in God’s plan. They learn to see the world through God’s eyes and recognize that he loves all people everywhere no matter where they live.
Royal Ambassadors
The Royal Ambassador program is for young men in grades 1st – 6th; they meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The aim of this program is to develop their awareness of and involvement in missions through learning experiences, discussion and prayer. In addition, high interest special activities are offered to provide opportunities for service and fun.Children’s Choirs
First Baptist offers a Children’s Choir program for grades 1-6. The choir meets every Wednesday during the school year from 5:30 pm-6:00 pm in the main choir room. The Children’s choir helps lead in worship several times during the year and also shares a musical drama at the end of the spring semester. The children learn different styles of music which include choral anthems, praise and worship songs, and fun active songs – all with the desire to lead children to love singing. All the songs our children sing teach them that we love God and God loves us. We would love to have all 1st–6th graders join us!
Children’s Handbells
At First Baptist Church we offer Children’s Handbells for grades 1-6, we meet every Wednesday afternoon during the school year at 4:30 pm. This ministry gives our church a good foundation of handbell excellence that we have enjoyed for years. The children learn basics of music fundamentals, and mixed with the playing of the handbells, it makes our time fun and exciting. The children are taught correct ringing technique and styles of ringing which includes using mallets, thumb damping, and martellato techniques. We share what has been learned by playing for the church family several times during the year. It’s a very exciting experience for young ringers when they get their parts right and our music comes together to sound like songs we sing at worship. Please come and join us!Wonderful Wednesday
Children at First Baptist Boone have an amazing time engaging in activities and fellowship that both lead them to Christ and create a lot of fun! Each week the church van picks our children up from school, bringing them back to the church for the Wonderful Wednesday time. During this time the kids do homework, play games, and participate in bible activities. After, Wednesday nights include handbells, choir, and a mission hour; boys go to Royal Ambassadors and girls go to Girls in Action. Wednesday nights are an opportunity to unwind after school while spending time with friends and experiencing the Gospel.Vacation Bible School
Is an exciting part of our summer. This week of themed fun is a time for all children in the community to come together and experience God's word in unique and creative ways! The entire congregation pitches in, making it a true church-wide event!"For a week each summer First Baptist celebrates the joy of having children participate in Vacation Bible School. Dinner is usually served each evening before the children participate in creative Bible study, music, crafts, snacks, and recreation. The theme for VBS 2011 was “Finding Hope: A Field Trip of Faith”. When the dates for VBS 2012 are determined we will let you know. Plan now to join us.
Activities and Trips
Each month we go an exciting adventure, such as Bo's in Lenoir or out for Ice cream in town! This summer the kids swam together at Blowing Rock pool, saw Indians at Tweetsie, attended Passport Kids Camp, and walked with the animals at the North Carolina Zoo!More Information
