About Us

Welcome…… First Baptist Church is located adjacent to Appalachian State University and King Street downtown on an important and historic corner in Boone, North Carolina.  First Baptist Church is prime to do ministry and is unique as a Baptist church in Watauga County due to sidewalks full of people walking around our building every day, affirmation of women in ministry, Christmas Day Community Lunch, Hunger and Health Coalition at FBC food distribution ministry, Traditional Worship with Chancel Choir and Organ, and intergenerational and all age experiences in ministry and mission.  With eyes on the future and a soul full of thanksgiving for the past, the church celebrated our 150th Anniversary in September of 2021. We don't just celebrate our past, but we are excited about all that God will call the church to do moving forward and engaging people with the love of God and with the invitation into a relationship with each other and with Jesus Christ. With staffing, budgeting, congregational leadership, and the leadership of the spirit of God, my prayer and vision is for us to reach more young adults and families with preschool through college-age sons and daughters to cherish worship and to be personally involved in serving others as a result of a growing and loving relationship with Jesus.  I hope this website will assist you in learning how to connect with this good church.  Grace and peace, Roy Dobyns, Senior Pastor
