Reverend Roy A. Dobyns, Jr.

Roy came to First Baptist Church in September of 2009 with his wife Robin. Prior to Boone, Roy has served as a youth and campus minister in churches in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. He is a graduate of Carson Newman College (1979) and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1981). He also did some graduate work in Counseling Psychology at the University of Tennessee. He currently serves on the CBF Youth Ministers Advisory Board and Passport Camps Advisory Board. He has served on the General Board of the Baptist State Convention and the Council on Christian Higher Education, and as a festival chaplain at Merlefest. Along with his wonderful wife Robin, they have a son Kyle, a daughter Katy, and a son in law, Adam. The Dobyns love to hike, be with family, listen to bluegrass, go to movies and Broadway plays, travel, and be armchair quarterbacks for the Tennessee Volunteers.
